The 1968 Shelby GT350 represented a shift toward comfort and refinement in the Shelby lineup. Built on the Mustang Fastback, it came powered by a 302 cubic-inch V8 producing around 250–260 hp, a change from the previous 289. Paired with the optional Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission, it was geared more for easy cruising than track use.
Visually, the ’68 GT350 stood out with a longer fiberglass nose, integrated fog lights, and sequential taillights borrowed from the ’67 Cougar. Shelby branding was prominent, and interior touches included special badging and roll bar — though the car leaned more toward GT luxury than raw muscle.
